Clinician Scholar

The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Queen’s University invites applications for the position of a full-time clinician scholar. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a shared inpatient Physiatric consultation service for the stroke rehabilitation service. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in our outpatient musculoskeletal, stroke, electrodiagnosis, neurorehabilitation and/or prosthetic and orthotic services, depending on the candidate’s clinical interests. The position also offers an opportunity to have a major role in the department’s leadership, clinical, educational and scholarly activities.
The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is located at Providence Care Hospital and provides local and regional clinical rehabilitation services (outpatient and inpatient), medical student education, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons accredited postgraduate training and relevant clinically based research. The Department is responsible for consultation support for 60 rehabilitation beds. The Division of Hospital Medicine and a nurse practitioner provide primary care for all inpatient rehabilitation services.
Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent). Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Applicants must also possess expertise, training and experience in stroke rehabilitation. Preference will also be given to applicants with proven leadership abilities, evidence of excellent educational abilities and research success. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
